Simeon was a recluse who lived in a walled monastery. He spent much of his time standing on a wall in order to fulfill two purposes: seclusion and the entertainment of strangers. He began living as a recluse in 483. See factoid page
After twenty years, Sergius received permission from Simeon to leave the monastery and shut himself up in a certain place close to the village. See factoid page
Sergius was confined on the third floor in the middle of the monastery of 'Tryz and tortured. After some time, Sergius managed to escape by slipping out of his irons and jumping from the third-floor window.
